The Robert Koch Institute's COVID Vaccination Certificate App
The governments of different countries around the world where mass vaccination against COVID-19 is being completed faster are issuing vaccination certificates. In Germany, the certificate is issued by the Robert Koch Institute, the federal agency for disease control and prevention.
The RKI's vaccination certificate app
CovPass is intended to serve as a vaccination certificate for patients use it when and where necessary or deemed appropriate. It has a built-in QR code reader to scan it once the certificate is issued by the doctor in charge. After that, the app stores it and only data such as vaccination status, the vaccine provided (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen...), the patient's name, and date of birth are encoded in it.
This tool has been developed with the privacy of the patient's data in mind, without the need to register with personal data (only with an email) and without storing the data in any online resource, only in the device.
This COVID pass can also be used to show the vaccination certificate of family members in the household and for those who do not have the possibility to carry a certificate on their device.
