All your health data in one app
Do you have a Fitbit smartwatch, a Galaxy Watch or another Android watch Do you use different health and fitness apps From now on, the Google app Health Connect will allow you to store and synchronize your health and physical activity data from all your fitness apps or wearables on one device. You could say it is a kind of Apple Health for Android, a service that many users were demanding.
This is a Google open source service for fitness apps to share data. Once the data is saved in Health Connect, any other fitness-related app with permission will be able to read that data and use it to get a more complete picture of the user's daily movement and health.
Key features
Although this release has yet to grow, for the time being you can store and study the following metrics:
- User activity-related information such as calories burned, distance traveled, exercise, steps, speed, and blood oxygen.
- Body measurements such as weight, body fat, water, and metabolic rate.
- Sleep data.
- Vital signs information including pulse, respiration, basal temperature, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood oxygen.
- Menstrual cycle tracking and ovulation tests.
- Nutritional information.
Google Fit, Fitbit, Samsung Health, Leap Fitness, MyFitnessPal, and Withings are the first brands to show interest in this app but, as it is an open API, it is expected that other wearable manufacturers and fitness app developers will soon join the project.
