Non-verbal communication on Android

The creators of one of the most popular predictive keyboard apps among smartphone users, SwiftKey Keyboard, are back with a new app that intends to revolutionize non-verbal communications.

The perfect app for children with special needs.

Conceived for kids with communication problems, including different kinds of disorders and autism, this application offers a much more visual way of communicating with friends, teachers and family.

How does SwiftKey Symbols work

The user is offered a series of symbols hand drawn by Swiftkey's team that he can choose to build the sentences he wants to say. By pressing the appropriate button, the application turns that sequence into a verbal output by means of text-to-speech technology.

Build sentences with symbols.

Like in all SwiftKey developments, the app makes use of predictive systems to offer the user the next symbol that he might possibly want to use to complete his sentence and also allows him to add images from his own gallery.

Categories of symbols available

The different drawings or icons are categorized to help the child to find which one he needs at every moment. These categories include, among many others:

  • Places
  • People
  • Activities
  • Clothes
  • Body
  • Time and date
  • Food and drink
  • Colors
  • Animals

Requirements and additional information:
