Do you want to connect a USB keyboard or a game control to your smartphone Well, you should know that not all Android devices are set up for it (although by now any half-way decent mobile allows it).

If you are not 100% sure of your handset's compatibility, there is an application that allows you to easily check whether your smartphone is USB OTG or On The Go, that is to say whether it allows the use of external devices connected directly to the handset using a USB. We are talking about USB OTG Checker.

How does it work

This small app simply checks if the smartphone has USB Manager by searching for the file android.hardware.usb.host.xml, which is essential for its functioning. And that's it, this little tool doesn't do anything else. Should the device not be be compatible this app does not fix the problem.

However, if the smartphone does not support USB OTG that doesn't mean that the peripheral that you want to connect is not going to work. It also depends on the type of locking and drivers available for each. The user will have to test it out.
